Today we have a very special guest: Cara Alwill Leyba from @thechampagnediet is a famous inspirational author, entrepreneur and an all-round talented woman.
Her books, including the famous "Girl Code: Unlocking the Secrets to Success, Sanity, and Happiness for the Female Entrepreneur", helped thousands of women to change their lives and make their happiness a priority.
A true motivation for us not just because of the business she has created and the path she is walking, but also because despite of her tight schedule and her enormous success she really takes time to support and manage her community, which shows what kind of person Cara is: caring, giving and a true leader.
We are very excited to share with you Cara's Interview specially for @ichselbstaendig:
Many women are dreaming of writing a book. But there are so many books out there, it seems hard to make your book stand out. Would you still advise those women to follow their dream?
The best advice I can give to women who want to create anything is to look within. So many women spend time focusing outside themselves; paying attention to what everyone else is doing. Imagine how powerful we'd be if we took that energy and focused it on our own efforts? Know that you possess a unique story and voice that nobody else on this planet has. Tap into that, put your blinders on, and make your own magic!
In your opinion, what makes one’s book worth reading?
Vulnerability. A willingness to share your truth, with no filter. We have enough "pretty" things on Instagram and Pinterest. Books need an edge. Women don't want to read fluff, we want to see what you went through, and how you got through it. We want to be inspired by raw stories to know that we, too, can get through challenges and not just survive - but thrive.
Do you believe that women can really have a it all - be successful in business and in their family?
Absolutely, but don't be fooled into thinking it will always feel perfectly balanced. I always say, "be at peace with your priorities." For example, if you are carving out more family time, be okay with giving your business a little break. Life flows in seasons. Don't feel guilty for shifting your focus from time to time. Learn to trust your intuition. It will always guide you to where you need to be.
Can you describe the feeling you get, when you dare a new project?
Overwhelming obsession! I love being consumed by passion. If I am not obsessed with it, I don't do it!
Challenging oneself is the best way to evolve.
What was the hardest challenge for you so far?
I recently revamped my lifestyle and nutrition habits, specifically my relationship to alcohol. I love a glass of wine or champagne, but in order to reach my full potential, I had to really examine my relationship with alcohol and how often I was indulging. I did a blog post about it, and as I approach my 1 year anniversary of making the change, I am proud to say my life has improved in ways I had never imagined. I feel happier, healthier, and I am more creative and successful than ever in my business. Here's the blog for anyone who wants to read it.
What is your next big adventure?
I am working hard on cultivating my brand new girl gang, The Slay Baby Collective. I am launching a live radio show next week called Slay Baby Radio, we have a Facebook group with almost 6,000 women from all over the globe, and I am planning girl power meet ups everywhere. I love connecting women, especially in person. There is nothing like bringing people together. Slay Baby is not about business; it's a true girl power driven community focused on lifting other women up, becoming a united front as females, and forming lasting friendships.
Here's the Facebook group if you want to join us!
